Intro to Batik Dyeing with Kobi Creations
Class is Saturday, September 24th AND Saturday, October 1st 10-4.
Come learn the art of Batik Dyeing. Batik is an ancient technique of wax-resist dyeing. The resist is either applied free-hand or with the use of stamps. The cloth is then dyed and then the wax is removed with boiling water. This process is repeated for each color.
Though Indonesia is best known for Batik, the process was first used in Africa where the ancient Egyptians used Batik cloth in the embalming of mummies.
The class fee includes the cost of supplies and access to all necessary equipment for the 2 days. You can choose to dye a t-shirt or fabric and you can purchase additional fabric and t-shirts if you wish. Space is limited to 10 students.
