Come join Debbie Sommer from Ft Worth and learn the basics of wool applique as you work on a Sue Spargo African Tulip Tote project. The class fee includes the pattern, wool, and embroidery floss needed to make the project. Additional supplies will be available if you wish. In this class, Debbie will cover wool basics including a brief introduction to, needles, threads, notions, preparing the pieces, and attaching the applique pieces. She will cover embellishment stitches and the majority of our time will be spent learning the stitches listed below and embellishing the design.

Supply list:

(African Tulip Tote Pattern and kit, 8 spools of Size #8 Eleganza embroidery floss and needles are included in the class fee.) 

Other basic supplies will be available to purchase at Stitchology or bring your favorites from home

-Creative Stitching by Sue Spargo or The Right-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion by Yvette Stanton (there is a Left-Handed edition of this book so be careful to purchase the one you need).  

-Size #8 embroidery floss used to embellish your pincushion.  The pattern will reference Eleganza floss which is very nice to use.  Other brands such as Valdani or WonderFul are nice too.  

-Size 24 or 22 Chenille needle

-Size 3 Milliners needle

 

Basic Sewing supplies -

-regular sewing needle is used to whip stitch down your wool pieces

-freezer paper

-pencil or pen for marking your pattern lines on the freezer paper 

-Scissors

-if you sew with a thimble or use a needle threader, bring those

-if you need additional lighting to sew, bring that

-some like to use a small ruler

-tailor’s chalk or a chalk marking pencil is helpful

-straight pins to hold down wool pieces while you are whip stitching them down   


The class will meet Thursday - Saturday, March 21st-23rd from 10-4 each day with a break for lunch.  Feel free to bring a lunch or you can get lunch from nearby restaurants.

 

CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY:

Classes fill up quickly so it is essential to PRE-REGISTER.  If a cancellation is received at least SEVEN DAYS before the first day of class, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 20% administration fee.  Cancellations received fewer than SEVEN DAYS in advance will not be refunded for any reason, including illness. If a class is canceled by Stitchology, you will receive a full refund.
